I began Pipsqueak Nursery on the assumption that there must be hundreds or thousands of apple lovers in the US who, like myself, were eagerly awaiting a nursery to sell trees of obscure yet delicious russeted apples.

I was very wrong!

My time running Pipsqueak Nursery has taught me a number of lessons, the most pertinent here being that antique apples are indescribably far from gaining favor and acceptance from the general public.

The best way to affect this situation, as I see it, is to grow an inordinate amount of delicious russeted apples and stuff them into every mouth I see. This will be our new mission.

This Winter we will transition our nursery area to trees for fruit production, and focus solely on growing apples for farmers’ markets, cider makers, and food banks from 2025 on.

As this is our last year selling trees, don’t hold back. Plant your yard, plant your Grandma’s yard. Plant your farm, plant your neighbor’s farm. Plant delicious antique apple trees everywhere!

Sincerely,
Adam
